The Executive Secretary of the Justice Department, Luiz Paulo Barreto, President of the National Council for the Combat against Piracy and Crimes against Intellectual Property – CNCP, states that the film “Tropa de Elite” suffered an unprecedented volume of piracy that much concerns the government authorities. What amazed the Secretary is the previous sale of illegal copies before the movie premier.

Said movie was the first fiction film by director José Padilha (“Ônibus 174”) which deals with the routine of officials of Bope (Squad of Special Operations) of the military police, and would be released in November. This month, however, a version of the movie started being sold in the streets throughout Brazil.
